Barry Ferguson issues Ryan Jack injury verdict ahead of Rangers v Eintracht Frankfurt

Barry Ferguson believes that Ryan Jack will be a bigger miss for Rangers than Kemar Roofe in the Europa League final.

Gers are set to take on Eintracht Frankfurt on Thursday night with the chance of winning their first European trophy in 50 years.

Roofe and Jack are both doubts for the game, having the last few games through injury, and Ferguson, a Sky Sports pundit, believes that the latter is the more important of the two.

He told Go Radio, “I’m not really bothered (about Roofe). They’ve got this far without an out and out striker.

“I think if Roofe trains well, Gio will put him in, but that will depend on how he does tonight and tomorrow.

“I’m more worried about Ryan Jack, you need him in there. He’s been exceptional since he signed for Rangers.

“Aribo’s starting to show the form he did in the early part of the season, and Jack and Lundstram have struck up an excellent partnership.”

Fair enough

Rangers have made it to the final largely without a recognised striker and there’s no reason why they cannot cope against Frankfurt.

They’ve faced sides tougher than the Germans and have managed to beat them convincingly.

Aribo can play there and his movement may even give the opposition players a few nightmares to deal with.

Jack does control the tempo exceptionally well and has enjoyed a good understanding with John Lundstram.

We’re hoping that both of them are fit for the game, but it all depends on how the players respond in the next couple of days.

There will surely be tests either on Tuesday or Wednesday and all we can do at this moment is keep our fingers crossed.

In other Rangers news, the club are ‘not convinced’ by a key first-team player and an early termination of his contract is extremely likely.
