Rangers ace John Lundstram 'not in Callum McGregor's league' - Chris Sutton

Ever since Giovanni van Bronckhorst took charge of Rangers, John Lundstram has turned into one of the Scottish Premiership’s best midfield players.

So much so that Ally McCoist named him in his Premiership team of the season alongside Celtic’s Callum McGregor while Joe Aribo, Calvin Bassey, Connor Goldson and Alfredo Morelos were his other Rangers picks.

Chris Sutton though could not believe that McCoist had selected the Englishman and took to his personal Twitter account to question the former Ibrox icon’s choices.

“Lundstram is a good player but come on he’s not in Callum McGregor’s league…” Sutton said in response to a video shared by BT Sport on the platform.

The ex-Rangers striker and manager almost blew up with rage at Sutton’s comments in the hilarious video but he hasn’t responded to his tweets as of yet.

Sutton loves nothing more than to rile McCoist and other Rangers fans up with his throwaway comments and we always take the bait.

This time is no different because he has rarely been more wrong than he is here when you really look at how good Lundstram has been in the second half of this season.

Sure he didn’t have the easiest of starts to life at Ibrox having arrived on a free transfer from Sheffield United during the Steven Gerrard era but he should get even more credit for the way he’s bounced back from that.

To say he isn’t in McGregor’s league is an insult to him and the football club because one of those players scored the goal to send their side to a European final and the other didn’t.

That’s not to say the Hoops player is poor in any way because they are very similarly-talented players and Sutton knows it, no matter how much he tries to twist it.

In other Rangers news, Danilho Doekhi is set to snub a move to Glasgow in favour of the Bundesliga according to recent reports.
