Kemar Roofe misses Rangers training ahead of Europa League final

Kemar Roofe was absent from Rangers training yet again and he is running out of time to prove his fitness.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst has confirmed today (May 12) that Roofe is currently not training with the Gers squad, but he is hopeful the striker can return to action before May 18.

The Jamaica international has not featured since the Scottish Cup semi-final win over Celtic at Hampden Park.

“(Kemar) Roofe is not training with the team at the moment but he is doing everything he can to be ready,” said Van Bronckhorst, as relayed by The Daily Record.

“Hopefully he can make some positive steps in the coming days.”

Race against time

Earlier, Van Bronckhorst admitted on TalkSPORT that he hopes Roofe will be ready for the big final.

The Gers have managed to beat RB Leipzig over the two legs with Roofe, but getting him back ahead of the final will be a massive, massive boost for the club.

At the moment, there is no sign of Roofe. In fact, it’s not clear whether he will be able to take part in the final league game of the season.

Roofe has been superb this season for the Gers, managing 16 goals in all competitions.

Against Leipzig, the Bears lost a focal point in their attack with Roofe away from home.

Roofe still has got a few days left to return to training. Even if he is half-fit, Van Bronckhorst should throw him into the mix.

This is their biggest game of the season, one that could change the landscape of the Scottish football.

In a game of this magnitude, manager want their best players, and Van Bronckhorst will need Roofe in the starting line-up against Frankfurt.

In other Rangers news, this Ibrox sensation is going to quit the Gers within weeks with a sell-on clause potentially involved in a deal.
