Jim White shares what van Bronckhorst told him in private before Rangers job

Jim White claims that he met Giovanni van Bronckhorst days before he accepted the Rangers job in 2021.

In that conversation, the Dutchman told him that he was extremely excited about taking over the helm at Ibrox.

However, neither of them envisaged that within six months Rangers would be in a European final and have the chance of winning the double.

White told van Bronckhorst on talkSPORT, “Gio, we had met days before you accepted the Rangers job. Do you remember that? You told me that you were excited to take over but surely you would not have envisaged that you would be in a European final six months later?”

To which he replied, “Absolutely not. To be in the final six months later is crazy. Now we have to go out and win it.”

Nobody expected things to transpire in the manner that they have and these truly are great times to be a Rangers fan.

Despite losing the league title to Celtic, Gers can have a better season than their local rivals and that will be an absolutely fantastic achievement.

Hopefully, they manage to keep their heads down and focused from start to end as the Frankfurt clash is not going to be a walkover.

It may be easier than some of the challenges they’ve faced in the past, but these things go out of the window in cup finals.

We back the Ibrox giants to get the job done and cannot wait to support them en large for the game in Seville.

All that stands between them and European glory is Frankfurt and if they put in their best foot forward, they’re going to win this one.

In other Rangers news, the club are ‘not convinced’ by a key first-team player and an early termination of his contract is extremely likely.
