Hearts manager Robbie Neilson has no problem playing soon to be Rangers defender in the upcoming Scottish Cup final

Hearts manager Robbie Neilson has no problem in playing soon to be Rangers defender John Souttar in next weekend’s Scottish Cup final against the Gers.

Souttar has signed a pre-contract agreement with Rangers and is set to join the Ibrox side in the summer.

The Bears-bound defender has just returned from a 10-week injury lay-off and has been backed to give 100% against his soon-to-be teammates.

As quoted by the Edinburgh News on Wednesday [11 May], Nielson said: “John is a Hearts player and he wants to do well for Hearts.

“Whenever John plays he’ll give 100 per cent.”

Neilson added: “The carrot for him is the cup final and Scotland in the summer, so he wants to play well and do that.”

Sick of the sight of each other

Rangers and Hearts will have a dress rehearsal for their Scottish Cup final on Saturday [14 May], when they bring the curtain down on their Scottish Premiership campaigns at Tynecastle.

Both sides will likely make changes with the upcoming Scottish Cup final around the corner, but don’t be surprised to see Rangers ring the changes with their Europa League final in Sevilla a matter of days later.

Giovanni van Bronkhorst would be wise to wrap his key men up in cotton wool for their trip to Tynecastle on Saturday.

The Gers have very nothing to play for in the League and Hearts have third place wrapped up.

If Rangers come home with the Europa League it wouldn’t be a surprise for them to secure a historic European and domestic double.

However, if they come home from Sevilla empty handed then Hearts will fancy their chances against a Rangers side that will still be hurting from a painful defeat.
