Rangers: Ianis Hagi could be set for sensational Europa League final return

Rangers’ attacker Ianis Hagi could be in line for a remarkable end of season return for their historic Europa League final against Eintracht Frankfurt, according to the Scottish Daily Express.

The Romanian was thought to have been out for the season after suffering a knee ligament injury in January.

After undergoing surgery it was reported by Playsport that Rangers paid £68,000 for his operation and a further £21,000 per month on his rehab.

However, it has been revealed by Scottish Express Sport that Hagi is in the official picture shoot in the home kit that Rangers will wear in the final.

Will he feature

It is a welcome boost for Giovanni van Bronkhorst’s side to have a player of Hagi’s quality back in the equation.

It would be bold for van Bronkhorst to start the playmaker in Sevilla, but utilising him from the bench could be a great option if they’re chasing the game or can’t break down the German side’s back line.

Hagi has two Scottish Premiership goals in 15 appearances and one Europa League goal this season.

Rangers have been threadbare in attacking areas in recent weeks, so he will be a welcome addition on the bench.

The Ibrox side face two Scottish Premiership fixtures against Ross County and Hearts before their showdown in Sevilla.

With Celtic on the cusp of regaining the League title, van Bronkhorst will almost certainly rotate his side in their coming domestic fixtures.

Potentially giving Hagi a run out in these soon to be dead rubbers could be a good option before their trip to Sevilla.

Rangers also have a chance to add another trophy to the cabinet with their Scottish Cup final clash with Hearts on the 21st of May.
