Chris Sutton takes instant swipe at Rangers after Celtic clinch title
Chris Sutton has taken an instant swipe at Rangers after Celtic have been crowned champions of the Scottish Premiership on Wednesday (11 May).
Celtic earned a 1-1 draw against Dundee United, while the Gers secured a 4-1 victory over Ross County.
With that result, the Bhoys have won the title as they lead by four points after 37 games.
Sutton wrote on Twitter: “Big Ange Postecoglou putting Rangers firmly back in their place.”
It was Celtic’s 10th title in 11 seasons, but Rangers have a great opportunity to end the season on a high.
Yes, losing the title hurts, especially after winning the league at a canter last season.
The Gers lost their tempo in the middle of the season, while new signings for the Bhoys really helped them to maintain the consistency.
They deserve to win the title, and surely Giovanni van Bronckhorst will learn from this mistake.
Most importantly, Rangers have plenty to look forward to this season.
There will be time for introspection but not now.
The Gers have to keep their focus on winning the Europa League as also winning the Scottish Cup as well.
They will face Eintracht Frankfurt in the final on May 18 in Sevilla. This is a monumental occasion and the club should not get distracted with the league result.
If they can end the season with two major trophies, it will be considered as a success, irrespective of their disappointment in the league.
