Kris Boyd names three Rangers and Celtic players in his Team of the Week

Kris Boyd has named the Rangers trio of James Tavernier, Fashion Sakala and Leon King in his SPFL Team of the Week.

The Gers players impressed a great deal in their routine 2-0 victory over Dundee United and merited their inclusion.

Boyd also named three Celtic players in his team with Greg Taylor appearing as his Player of the Week.

King deserves it

The 18-year-old was thrown into the mix over the weekend and he had an exceptional game, it must be said.

It didn’t look like it was a teenager who was afraid of the big time and the noisy Ibrox atmosphere.

He seemed to be used to it as if he was starting for Rangers every week,

Like Boyd, Giovanni van Bronckhorst also will have been impressed by the performance he put in for the club.

Next season, it will be interesting to see how the Dutchman deals with King and whether or not he gives him more game time.

There is an argument that loaning players out does help them develop better but the Gers are surely going to enter the market for defenders and if King is performing to a level that satisfies the hierarchy then he could be handed additional minutes in the coming months.

We’re excited to see just how far he progresses and we’re sure to see him becoming a first-team regular in no time.

In other Rangers news, the club are ‘not convinced’ by a key first-team player and an early termination of his contract is extremely likely.
