National newspaper Rangers player rating v Leipzig: John Lundstram terrific
Rangers produced a heroic performance at Ibrox on Thursday night (5 May) as they won 3-1 against RB Leipzig to book a place in the final of the Europa League.
The Scottish Daily Mail (6 May, page 91) has delivered the player ratings for both the teams and the Gers fans will largely agree with that.
The Bears will face Eintracht Frankfurt in the final of the Europa League in Sevilla later this month.
The newspaper hailed Lundstram as “terrific”, while Joe Aribo has got 6/10 after he was unfortunately taken off.
Lundstram is among six players who got 9/10 from the Scottish Daily Mail.
Night to remember
This will go down as one of the memorable wins of all time at Ibrox.
Twice in this competition, the Gers came from behind to win the tie. It shows that Ibrox has been a fortress for them, and they deserve all the accolades.
They face Frankfurt in the final who did an incredible job to beat West Ham. Rangers can prove they can beat anyone on their day.
Goals from James Tavernier and Glen Kamara gave the Gers a 2-0 lead inside 25 minutes.
Leipzig levelled the tie in the second half through their top scorer Christopher Nkunku. However, with the crowd behind baying for blood, there was bound to be one major twist.
Rangers players gave their all on the pitch, and John Lundstram shook the old stadium when he netted the winner. The roar was deafening. The ground was shaking.
The Gers have missed out on the Scottish Premiership title, but it will be a massive achievement for the club if they can win the Europa League this season.
