Giovanni van Bronckhorst sweating on key duo - early team news v RB Leipzig

Giovanni van Bronckhorst is still unable to confirm wether key Rangers pair Aaron Ramsey and Kemar Roofe will be fit to face RB Leipzig tomorrow (5 May).

The injured duo were ruled out following the Scottish Cup win over Celtic at Hampden Park (17 April) and haven’t featured since.

With Gers trailing 1-0 from the first leg, both were hoping to be back for the return at Ibrox, but still the day before the game their availability is not clear, although the manager has not reported any new injury concerns.

In his pre-match press conference, via the club’s Twitter page, van Bronckhorst said: “We still have one final training session. At the moment I can’t say if Roofe or Ramsey will make the squad tomorrow.”

Destiny awaits

The late goal in Germany didn’t change things too much for the side that had held up admirably up until then.

They always knew they were going to need to harness the Ibrox atmosphere once again to do the business.

The previous rounds have proven that they are a tough proposition for any side under the lights in Glasgow.

Goals haven’t been a problem either, with James Tavernier especially prolific.

But Alfredo Morelos or Roofe have featured in all of the previous home legs in the knockout stages, so it would be a major boost if the Jamaican can make it back.

Fashion Sakala, Joe Aribo and Scott Wright have all filled in for him in the last three games but none are out and out strikers.

Sakala scored an excellent equaliser in the league draw with Celtic last time out, but then hit the post with a late chance to snatch the points.

In other Rangers news, Tom English was baffled by a Gers side that “screams weakness” but “hollers heart and character”.
