Charlie Nicholas makes damning Rangers v RB Leipzig prediction

Charlie Nicholas has given RB Leipzig the edge over Rangers in their Europa League semi-final clash on Thursday [May 5].

The Light Blues welcome the Bundesliga outfit to Ibrox where they look to come back from the 1-0 defeat suffered in Germany last time out.

The Sky Sports pundit insists that Aaron Ramsey and Kemar Roofe’s involvement will be crucial in deciding the tie.

He wrote in his Scottish Daily Express column: “Aaron Ramsey and Kemar Roofe could come back in and that could give them a helluva chance.

“What I would say is that they need to be a lot better on the ball than they did in Leipzig.

“When they do then James Tavernier and Borna Barisic need to get as high as they can to create the ammunition for their team.

“I would still fancy RB Leipzig but you can’t write off this Rangers team.”

Fine margins.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst will need all of his best players not only fit but at their best if they are to overturn this result.

Fashion Sakala is an able player but he isn’t the level required to be the Gers’ main man up top – that was glaringly obvious in the first leg as the forward struggled to get to grips with the quality and intensity of the game.

He might carry some confidence after scoring excellently against Celtic on the weekend but Roofe is a far better option if he is fit and hopefully, he is.

The same goes for Ramsey. He is just a cut above everyone else in the Rangers midfield. His experience and quality could be vital and if those two can come back in and perform well along with their teammates there is no reason why they can’t reach the final.

Leipzig are a different kettle of fish but the Bears did come back in style against Braga in the quarters when nobody gave them a chance.

In other Rangers news, View: the Bears fans will love their key man after what he did to the booing Celtic fans after Old Firm.
