BBC pundit: Aaron Ramsey could start Rangers Europa League clash v RB Leipzig

Kevin Thomson believes that Rangers could start Aaron Ramsey for the Europa League clash against RB Leipzig this Thursday.

The Gers face a 1-0 deficit but welcome the Bundesliga side at Ibrox and would back themselves to turn it around.

Ramsey has been labelled a ‘big-game player’ by Thomson, who does appear on BBC Scotland for interviews [Football Scotland].

He told Scottish Sun, “If Ramsey is fit then I wouldn’t be surprised if he throws him straight in. I would think it is a risk worth taking.

“He’s a big-game player and you don’t get many chances to reach a European final.

“I’ve always thought Rangers would go through if they were still in the tie after the first leg. It would be a monumental achievement for these boys to do what we did in 2008.”

Good shout

Ramsey, despite his current form and fitness record, has an impressive CV and has played in big European games in his career.

This is another huge game for him and if given the chance he could step up to the occasion.

Both Leipzig and Rangers are not used to playing for a spot in European finals so it could be new territory for them.

However, for Ramsey these are familiar grounds and he would grab the game by the scruff of its neck.

We’re hoping that he’s ruled fit for this one and even a 45-minute cameo may be good enough to seal the deal.

The Ibrox capacity crowd will also play their role in helping to get this Gers team over the line for the contest.

In other Rangers news, the club are ‘not convinced’ by a key first-team player and an early termination of his contract is extremely likely.
