McCoist in awe of Sakala's 'magic five minutes' in Rangers v Celtic Old Firm draw

Ally McCoist was in awe of Fashion Sakala’s magic five minutes which earnt Rangers a point in the final Old Firm derby of the season.

Sakala’s low left-footed strike in the 67th minute was enough to secure a point for Rangers at Celtic Park.

The Rangers man enjoyed a profitable five minutes spell which saw him score and have numerous chances on goal.

Talking on Sky Sports Main Event on commentary in the 70th minute, McCoist said: “He’s had a magic five minutes, the lad.

“He’s been involved in everything, a goal, a one on one and a header.”

Rangers’ second-half display was deserving of a point after an underwhelming first-half showing.

Sakala’s inch-perfect strike cancelled out Jota’s first-half goal to delay Celtic’s likely title win.

The Light Blues will see a point as an excellent result having played their Europa League semi-final on Thursday.

The Gers also have a Scottish Cup final, as well as their return leg against Leipzig to contend with.

Given the context of their season, Rangers will be delighted with their second-half performance, with numerous chances and some great saves by Joe Hart preventing them from taking three points back to Ibrox.

Sakala also had a golden chance to win it after being sent through in the 86th minute, only for his side-footed finish to cannon off the post.

Rangers face Leipzig on Thursday in their Europa League Semi-final second-leg.

In other Rangers news, Kenny Dalglish predicted the score of this game while posing a significant dilemma for Gers.
