Keith Jackson rips apart Borna Barisic after 'Nightmare' Rangers moment v Celtic

Keith Jackson has singled out Rangers defender Borna Barisic for his nightmare moment in the 1-1 draw with Celtic.

The Croatian was caught napping at Parkhead for the second time this season, with Jota this time jumping ahead of him to tap home a deep cross.

Jackson fumed at the defender, admitting that he sleepwalked into yet another shocking moment on the big stage.

Writing in his latest column for the Daily Record, Jackson singled out the Croatian for his dreadful moment.

“That Rangers were the better team is not really in any dispute,” he wrote.

“Celtic managed just one shot on target over the course of a breathless 90 minutes and even though Jota made it count, volleying home from close range after Borna Barisic had slept walked into a recurring derby day nightmare, even that moment came against the run of play.”

This is extremely frustrating.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst will be scratching his head looking for the answers, with Barisic having shined in recent weeks.

Since coming back in against Braga, the Croatian has been class against the likes of RB Leipzig, but there is something about this fixture that makes him crumble away from home.

It was an exact carbon copy of the goal conceded earlier in the season, and there are no excuses for falling asleep on such a big stage.

Allan McGregor had little to nothing to do all afternoon in terms of shots on target, but his defence sleeping for one split-second undid everything.

These are the incidents that must be cut out ahead of the second leg of our Europa League semi-final against Leipzig on Thursday.

Barisic will likely start again, and we will be backing him to shine down that left-hand side and hopefully play a huge role in overturning the deficit and reaching that final.

Bring it on.
