Tom English tears into Rangers winger Ryan Kent v Celtic

Rangers managed a 1-1 draw against Celtic in the Scottish Premiership clash on Sunday at Parkhead.

The result puts Celtic firmly in the title race as they lead by six points, with three games left to play.

Tom English, the senior writer for BBC Sport wasn’t impressed with Ryan Kent, saying he “flatters to deceive”.

“I thought Rangers started very well but Ryan Kent has got to score with that tremendous chance,” wrote English for the BBC Sports website.

“It’s one of my problems with Kent, he flatters to deceive, he’s got three goals this season – it’s nowhere near good enough.”

Poor

Kent is a top player, and he is an asset to the club.

There are times when he single-handedly influenced the game, although not always with goals and assists.

At the same time, English is right about Kent. He should score more often given his wealth of quality, but does he flatter to deceive? It’s harsh.

He didn’t have a great game today and should have scored in the first half. It could have had a huge impact on the game.

Kent made some good runs and tried to dribble past players but couldn’t really influence the game with the final killer passes that he is capable of.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst will have to work with him regarding his finishing and positioning in the pre-season, and this is one area where Kent really needs to improve.

Rangers have a huge game coming up on Thursday where they will be looking to reach the final of the Europa League, despite trailing 1-0 from the first leg.

In other Rangers news, it was deja vu for one player in a nightmare show against Celtic.
