Chris Sutton takes aim at referees after RB Leipzig v Rangers news
Chris Sutton has taken aim at Scottish referees after he learned that Benoit Bastien will be in charge of RB Leipzig v Rangers.
The Light Blues travel to the Reb Bull Arena to face the German outfit in the Europa League semi-final later this evening [April 28].
The former Celtic man wasn’t shy of sharing his opinion after learning that Bastien hasn’t awarded a single penalty in the competition this campaign.
He said on Twitter: “He can’t be Scottish then…”
This is a game of serious magnitude. This Rangers team find themselves on the cusp of writing their names in Ibrox history and they certainly deserve it.
They have beaten all of the odds in Europe this season. Absolutely nobody gave them a chance and here they stand as one of four teams left in the competition.
Leipzig are certainly going to be the Gers’ toughest test yet. They are an incredibly well-organised side that plays some brilliant football and given who Giovanni van Bronckhorst is without, the first leg may be more about surviving than it is stamping their authority on the tie.
The Bundesliga outfit would have learnt from the Borussia Dortmund, Red Star Belgrade and Braga clashes where the Bears were mostly underdogs which will most likely see them try and blow them away tonight before the crucial return leg.
Hopefully, the Light Blues can bring them back to Ibrox still intact and benefit from the home crowd as well as Kemar Roofe being back amongst the team.
Only three games stand between the Gers and the final. If they can move past Leipzig, it is anyone’s game in Seville and given who they have already beaten, van Bronckhorst’s side will be confident they can lift the trophy.
