Ally McCoist slams Scott Wright on BT Sports after 'Amazing' Rangers moment v RB Leipzig

Ally McCoist was not left impressed by Rangers attacker Scott Wright in the opening 45 minutes against RB Leipzig this evening.

The former Aberdeen man was given the nod in Germany after impressing and scoring over the weekend at Aberdeen.

McCoist was thrilled by an “amazing” pass, only for Wright to take a poor touch and ruin the work done previously.

Speaking live on BT Sports coverage this evening, McCoist was not impressed after the initial quality on show.

“It’s amazing,” he said.

“It’s a simple long ball, Wright runs on to it, he should do better with his first touch actually.”

Efficient.

It was clear at this stage of the game that Rangers were going to have to use the counter-attack as their main weapon.

Leipzig were dominating possession and the Bears couldn’t seem to string two passes together in the opening 25 minutes.

So, when the ball gets put in behind perfectly like it was, players such as Wright need to be much better at keeping it.

If you control it, you can create chances or earn a free-kick and that is the aim of the game when your backs are against the wall.

Wright hasn’t had many chances in these big games since arriving, but he needs to quick book his ideas up if he wants more in the future.

McCoist was excellent at getting in behind and being in those dangerous areas, but also what he did after that, and Wright will learn the more he gets given the chance.
