West Ham coach Stuart Pearce gushes over Ibrox atmosphere ahead of Rangers v RB Leipzig

West Ham coach Stuart Pearce wants his side to take Rangers on in the Europa League final to make it an all British affair.

The Hammers take on Eintracht Frankfurt while Gers take on a German side as well in RB Leipzig.

While progression will not see West Ham playing at Ibrox in the next round, Pearce is certainly in awe of the atmosphere at the home of Rangers.

Speaking on talkSPORT, he said, “An England/Scotland final would be brilliant but we’re some way off that just now.

“Rangers have done great and those nights at Ibrox have been absolutely scintillating during the European campaign.

“I’ll have my fingers crossed that they go all the way for sure.

“If that is the case then it would be brilliant, but I think both of us have got our hands full in the semis, that’s for sure.”

Some contest

A Rangers v West Ham would be a phenomenal game and most fans of either club would want that.

Two historic clubs from major footballing cities in the UK fighting for a European honour.

It surely would not get any better than that.

West Ham see the Europa League as their only pathway to the Champions League while Gers will have a second go via the play-offs next season.

That said, neither team will treat it as anything other than the biggest game in recent memory.

Fans of both sides will be up for it for days before the game and the action will certainly be worth the wait.

In other Rangers news, the club are ‘not convinced’ by a key first-team player and an early termination of his contract is extremely likely.
