Sky Sports pundit drops Ibrox admission ahead of Rangers Europa League clash v RB Leipzig
Kevin Thomson believes that Rangers must stay in the game and not get blown away in the first leg against RB Leipzig.
He admits that the daunting atmosphere at Ibrox could help them get over the line.
However, he thinks it will be naive to underestimate the Bundesliga side, given the players they’ve got at their disposal.
Speaking on Sky Sports, Thomson said, via Football Daily, “I think anyone would be naive to think that Rangers could just steamroll the Germans and take the game to them.
“I think they [Rangers] need to be cool. They need to be clever and stay in the game.
“Ibrox is a unique atmosphere, so no matter how good a team, they find it difficult to go to Ibrox.

“I do think that this Rangers team can score against anyone but it’s imperative that they keep the back door shut as it’s imperative that they don’t get hit on the counter-attack.
“It’s going to be an intriguing encounter and I’m really excited to see how this team are going to approach it.”
Caution
Leipzig are a high octane and attacking team that can punish Rangers if they’re on their day.
Gers have shown plenty of lapses in concentration defensively all season and they cannot afford to switch off for this one.
Sure, they will be favourites to win at Ibrox, but that will not be possible if they’re facing a big deficit from the first league.
It makes a lot of sense to sit deep and allow Leipzig the chance to dominate possession before hitting them on the counter.
In Glasgow, they can then play the game on their terms and secure a pathway into the final.
In other Rangers news, the club are ‘not convinced’ by a key first-team player and an early termination of his contract is extremely likely.
