BBC man Tom English delivers 'Terrible' Rangers verdict ahead of RB Leipzig clash

Tom English believes Rangers have been unlucky with Aaron Ramsey’s injury record since his loan move.

The Wales international was signed by the defending champions on a loan until the end of the season.

With him falling out of favour at Juventus, a move away from Turin seemed ideal for all parties, but he has struggled with his fitness since joining.

English wrote in his BBC column, “Aaron Ramsey, who was signed on loan for the biggest games, will play no part.

“Ramsey’s sum contribution in this European run has been four minutes against Dortmund and 80 against Braga.

“You could say Rangers brought the Ramsey thing on themselves by recruiting a star with a terrible injury profile, but they’ve been unlucky.”

Didn’t make sense

Rangers were well aware of his injury record before signing him on loan.

They just saw a big name being available and without thinking rationally about it, went ahead with his signature.

It was a move that was unlikely to work out, not because of who the player he is, but because of his age.

Beyond 30, his body is not going to miraculously strengthen and become stronger.

We don’t really know what the club were expecting from his signature.

Now, in their biggest game of the season, he’s once again unavailable and the club will have to make do without him.

In other Rangers news, the club are ‘not convinced’ by the performances of a key first-team player and an early termination of his contract is extremely likely.
