Tam McManus brands Rangers 'petty' after covering cinch logos

Rangers took their sponsorship row with the SPFL to new levels against Motherwell as they covered cinch logos on the Fir Park boards.

The Light Blues have previously avoided doing any post-match interviews in front of sponsorship boards but Motherwell forced them to do it in their dedicated media room.

But with their ongoing row with the SPFL over cinch’s sponsorship of the Scottish Premiership, the club’s media department taped over all of cinch’s representation before Giovanni van Bronckhorst did his interview.

Tam McManus thinks this has gone too far now and was not afraid to call the club out on the PLZ Football Show.

“It’s just petty. It’s not a good look for people down south or in Europe seeing that,” McManus said.

“Tape. White tape taping up a sponsor on a board. It’s totally amateur.”

Put an end to it

All of this nonsense is really starting to get old now and we have to just come to an agreement with the SPFL and put it all behind us.

The football club don’t have to be totally onboard nor say yes to absolutely everything the SPFL ask of them but they can’t keep being at loggerheads with them.

The more they fight and go against the head honchos, the more they won’t get the way when they need to.

There are no such arguments across the city with Celtic and if a decision comes to us versus them, then the SPFL might be tempted to side with the Hoops due to our frosty relationship.

You would hope that it doesn’t come to taking sides in that manner but with the way football is going nowadays, having a healthy relationship with the SPFL could be more important than it should be.

In other Rangers news, we think van Bronckhorst could make up to five changes for the RB Leipzig clash on Thursday.
