Rangers could drop Glen Kamara for RB Leipzig Europa League clash
Glen Kamara could be axed by Giovanni van Bronckhorst after his underwhelming performance for Rangers v Motherwell.
Gers may have won the game comfortably at the end but there were moments in it when that did not seem the likely outcome.
Despite leading 1-0, they were on the ropes after Leon Balogun’s red card, but managed to win 3-1 at the full-time whistle.
However, one player who certainly had a forgetful game was Kamara who played a huge role in Gers’ concession of the goal.
He held the ball longer than he should have and clearing the ball upfield was clearly the wise thing to do.
Journalist Andrew Dickson, via his personal Twitter account, wrote,
“That was an all-round shambles from Glen Kamara. Rangers have gone from being very comfortable to on the ropes in five minutes.”
Against Leipzig, it makes a lot of sense to leave Kamara out of the starting eleven.
The Bundesliga side are known to be one of the best pressing teams in Europe and players like the Finland international will need to be at their best to avoid constant turnovers of possession.
He has been a shade of his former self this season and his recent form does not indicate that this was a minor blip.
It appears to be a pattern in his game and something needs to change before he finds himself on the fringes at Ibrox for good.
