Rangers confirmed starting XI for Scottish Premiership clash v Motherwell

Rangers have confirmed their starting XI for the Scottish Premiership clash against Motherwell this afternoon [April 23].

The Gers will be looking to keep the pressure on league leaders Celtic who sit six points ahead of them whilst having one eye on Thursday’s Europa League semi-final clash against RB Leipzig.

Confirmed on Twitter prior to kick-off, Giovanni van Bronckhorst decided to make eight changes to his starting line-up.

James Tavernier, Connor Goldson and Borna Barisic are the only players to keep their place in the team,

Bigger fish.

With the league almost wrapped up as the Hoops boast a six-point lead on the Light Blues, van Bronckhorst has two main targets left this season – the Europa League and Scottish Cup.

Their Thursday evening game against Leipzig is by far the biggest in their recent history and it is imperative that all of the remaining fit players within the squad are raring to go in what is going to be an extremely tough game at Red Bull Arena.

With key attackers Alfredo Morelos and Kemar Roofe as well as Aaron Ramsey all being out injured, the Gers simply can’t afford any more players dropping to the injury table ahead of the clash.

Their injury crisis has come at the worst time possible with several key cup games on the horizon which means they have to exercise caution where possible.

Despite having bigger fish to fry, it is vital that the Bears win against Motherwell. It would go a long way in maintaining the positive momentum flowing through the squad and if Celtic do slip up from now until the end of the season, it ensures that the Light Blues will be right behind them.
