Neil McCann raves about Rangers winger Scott Wright v Motherwell

Neil McCann was heavily impressed with Rangers winger Scott Wright after he scored against Motherwell in the second half at Fir Park.

The Gers appeared to have thrown away the title race after Leon Balogun was sent-off in the first half that ended 1-1.

However, Wright scored a brilliant goal after being set up by Fashion Sakala. Wright scored with a low drive into the far corner from the edge of the Motherwell penalty box.

“He’s done this before where he shapes and takes an extra touch. It’s gone through the legs of the defender,” said McCann on BBC Sportsound, as relayed on their website.

“It’s a really good finish from Scott Wright. Fashion Sakala – his purpose, his willingness just to shrug off the challenge. It’s a really good Rangers goal.”

It was a remarkable turnaround in the second half.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst must have said something that has inspired a heroic revival after a poor first-half from the visitors.

Just like the game against Celtic, Rangers appeared to have hit a different gear after going down.

Here again, just after the break, they got the goal and a few minutes later they earned a penalty from which skipper James Tavernier scored.

Fashion Sakala was tackled by Bevis Mugabi for the third goal, and from the spot, Tavernier didn’t make any mistake.

It seemed Rangers actually played better football with 10-men on the pitch, as they gained control after the break.

The performances of Wright and Sakala will give Van Bronckhorst much relief ahead of their big European clash on Thursday, especially with Kemar Roofe and Aaron Ramsey out.

Wright’s goal is a big moment in the game, and it has kept the Gers still in the title race.
