Steven Pressley gushes over 'terrific' Rangers duo v Celtic
Steven Pressley was left gushing over Rangers duo Calvin Bassey and Fashion Sakala for their performances in the Hampden Park semi-final clash on Sunday [April 17].
The Light Blues snatched a place in the final in the dying moments of added time in a hard thought 2-1 win in the Old Firm derby.
It was Carl Starfelt’s own goal that clinched the game for the Bears after Bassey’s low driven ball.
He said as per Sky Sports Scotland: “Kent plays in Bassey, a terrific ball across, and Sakala, who has made a terrific impact since replacing Roofe gets his toe on it and evades Hart.
“I’ll be honest with you, in the first half of extra time, they looked a tired side and there were signs they were allowing Celtic domination in the middle of the park.”
What a performance from the Rangers players. Not only did they play 120 minutes worth of gruelling football against Braga on Thursday as they booked their place in the Europa League semi-final; they did it again.
That shows some serious resilience from these players who desperately needed that win.
It would have been devastating if the Hoops won yesterday giving them all of the bragging rights this season whilst most likely leaving Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s side trophyless this campaign.
Most impressively, they did it without talisman Alfredo Morelos. Not many people gave the Gers a chance in either game without the key Columbia international but they rose to the occasion in both games to prove they aren’t a one-man team.
The Bears need to win at least one trophy this season for it to be a successful campaign but it would be amazing if they could do the double and win both cups.
In other Rangers news, a BBC pundit has been left in awe of the Gers’ Europa League journey after their Braga win.
