Borna Barisic to be dropped by van Bronckhorst – Rangers predicted XI v Celtic

Giovanni van Bronckhorst is predicted to make just one change to his starting line-up ahead of Rangers’ clash against Celtic on Sunday.

The Light Blues will head to Hampden Park not only for a Scottish Cup semi-final but also the penultimate Old Firm derby of the season.

After such a superb performance in their Europa League win against Braga on Thursday, van Bronckhorst is expected to keep changes to a minimum.

As such, we expect Borna Barisic to be axed in the only change, with Leon Balogun returning to the side.

While Barisic, 29, had a stunning game against Braga on Thursday, he was rotten in his last Old Firm outing when we lost 3-0 at Celtic Park in February.

Balogun, on the other hand, has been a consistent performer this term and played well when he came off the bench against Braga.

As for the rest of the team, we predict – and hope – it remains unchanged with Allan McGregor in goals behind a back-four of James Tavernier, Connor Goldson, Balogun and Calvin Bassey, who’d move to left-back.

John Lundstram and Ryan Jack could start in the central midfield spots.

Aaron Ramsey didn’t last 90 minutes against Braga and will hopefully be fit enough to start in the attacking midfield slot once again on Sunday.

Joe Aribo and Ryan Kent could start on either wing with Kemar Roofe, who won the penalty and scored the winner against Braga, spearheading the attack once more in the lone striker role.
