BBC Sportsound pundit slams Connor Goldson after what happened in Rangers win v Braga
Richard Foster slammed Connor Goldson when Rangers conceded a late goal to Braga in their Europa League quarter-final win at Ibrox on Thursday night.
Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s men were cruising their way into the semi-finals until before David Carmo powered in an 83rd-minute header from a corner.
Carmo’s goal meant the game had to go to extra time, which the Gers fortunately scored in to win the tie 3-2 on aggregate and set up a last-four showdown with RB Leipzig.

However, BBC Sportsound pundit Foster was less than impressed by Goldson’s role in Carmo’s goal as the Rangers defender totally lost someone who he was meant to be marking.
“The defending of the corner was so poor,” said Foster on BBC Sportsound after Braga’s goal, as quoted by BBC Sport.
“It was very similar to how poor Braga have been all night at corners.
“I don’t know how Connor Goldson loses his man so easily, or doesn’t stop him running.
“Now Braga have something to hold on to.”

Soft goal to concede
Goldson had been quality for most of the game before that defensive lapse in the latter stages of the game.
We’ve no idea how the former Brighton defender lost Carmo and by the time he found the Braga man again, he was climbing above Kemar Roofe to power in a really good header.
Rangers, throughout the game, were absolutely brilliant with every single player doing superbly well.
It was just that one moment where we lost our cool a bit when Braga won an unexpected corner in the 83rd minute.
Funnily enough, it came just minutes after a double substitution by van Bronckhorst that saw Ryan Jack and Aaron Ramsey – two of our best players on the night – taken off.
Our momentum went after that substitutions and we really struggled to create much in the way of chances to win the game in normal time.
Fortunately, Roofe was the man of the moment to stick home Rangers’ winner in extra-time and put the club just two games short of a major European final.
Getting to this stage is a massive achievement for Rangers Football Club.
Let’s hope the boys can put up a good showing against Leipzig in the coming weeks because it’s going to be one tough match to win.
In other Rangers news, this international player is likely to have played his final game for his club amid Ibrox speculation.
