Rangers icon Kenny Miller raves about ‘scary’ James Tavernier
Rangers club captain James Tavernier has been getting better with every game he plays for the Light Blues and it’s being noticed outside the club too.
The 30-year-old is leading the entire Scottish Premiership for assists this season with 12 from right-back and his overall statistics for the Gers are even more impressive.
In his 337 games for the Ibrox club, he has contributed to 183 goals with 77of his own along with 106 assists.

Rangers icon Kenny Miller can’t speak highly enough of the Englishman who has become the perfect modern-day full-back in his eyes.
“His numbers are scary,” Miller said in a feature on the BBC Sport website. “Tav came up as an unknown quantity, but straight away you could see his quality.
“He’s a real modern-day full-back, but he’s a better defender than he gets credit for. He’s always the fall guy when things seem to go wrong, but that’s what happens when you’re a leader of a big side.
“He’s been through a lot in his time at the club and he’s developed the mindset a Rangers player needs. He’s really responded to what it means to represent that badge.”
Already a club legend
Legendary status is something that can often be handed out far too often in football nowadays and even more so before a player leaves or retires.

But in the case of Tavernier, we’ve been too slow in lavishing this name upon the right-back and he deserves better.
His record in terms of providing goals rivals the very best full-backs in world football and he has helped Rangers to countless victories ever since he arrived in Glasgow in 2015.
He might only have one Scottish Premiership title to his name but his contribution to the football club goes way beyond the pots in the trophy cabinet.
It will be a crying shame when he stops playing for Rangers, whether to play elsewhere or stop altogether, and there will be huge shoes to fill as both the team’s right-back and the club captain.
In other Rangers news, this Light Blues defender could be playing for his Ibrox future after some damning injury news earlier this week.
