Rangers ace Kemar Roofe must prove himself – Nacho Novo
Nacho Novo has branded Kemar Roofe the “main man” and believes he has what it takes to successfully fill in for injured Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos.
The Jamaican was instrumental in the Gers’ 4-0 win over St. Mirren on the weekend, scoring a hat-trick in 50 minutes before being subbed off with Thursday’s [April 14] Europa League clash in mind.
With the Light Blues looking to bounce back from the 1-0 defeat suffered in the first leg, Roofe has been told he must prove himself.

Novo told Daily Record: “For me, Roofe is the main man right now.
“You can see his movement and he will create chances with that. He still has to put them away but his goal return is good.
“Now we will see on Thursday and Sunday what he can do. They are two massive games for Rangers and their season.
“Roofe is a great player. He is always in the right place and he showed that against St Mirren on Sunday.
“Morelos will be a big miss as he is one of the best players in the team. Since he has come to Rangers he is getting better and better every year.
“But he is injured now and Roofe has to prove he can play every game and score goals.”

Good enough?
Roofe simply can’t live up to the level of Morelos and it is unfair to put that burden on him.
He is a very good striker, yes, but the Columbian is the Bears’ best player and it would be very difficult for anyone in the squad to have the same impact he does.
You have to give credit to the 29-year-old; he gives his all whenever called upon despite sitting on the bench for most of the season.
He will be desperate to stake his claim as Rangers’ number one striker with Morelos’ Ibrox future uncertain.
Hopefully, his hattrick on Sunday [April 10] will give him the confidence to kick on in what is a hugely important week for Giovanni van Bronckorst and the players with Braga and Celtic on the horizon.
However, Roofe tends to struggle in the bigger games with the title shattering defeat against the Hoops in their last encounter a perfect example of him being just below the level the Gers need up top.
