Rangers confirmed XI v St Mirren - Calvin Bassey and Ryan Jack dropped from squad in 5 changes

Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s Rangers starting XI has been confirmed for the trip to face St Mirren in the Scottish Premiership today (10 April).

The Dutchman has rung the changes from the 1-0 defeat in Braga, switching five men from the European tie.

There are changes in defence, midfield and attack, as Calvin Bassey and Ryan Jack drop out of the squad entirely, while Welsh loan star Aaron Ramsey starts.

Allan McGregor lines up in goal behind a back four of captain James Tavernier, Connor Goldson, the incoming pair of Filip Helander and Borna Barisic.

In midfield Ramsey plays alongside John Lundstram who keeps his place, and Joe Aribo.

And in attack, Fashion Sakala and Ryan Kent play alongside Kemar Roofe, with Scott Arfield dropping to the bench.

Back on the horse

A strong March saw the Light Blues win every match aside from the away-leg of the Red Star tie in Europe, which was still a strong performance and saw them through.

What followed was a miserable start to April that has all but torpedoed the season.

With talismanic striker Alfredo Morelos ruled out for the rest of the season after undergoing surgery on the thigh injury picked up with Colombia, Gers lost at home in the Old Firm derby.

It is now Celtic’s title to lose, and the fall out from the bottle-throwing at Ibrox is continuing to rumble on.

A 1-0 defeat in Braga last time out has increased the edginess around the club, although it is far from a done deal ahead of the return leg.

In that light, a positive performance today at St Mirren is important to restore some confidence after a bruising couple of weeks.

In other Rangers news, the club are upset by Ange Postecoglou’s comments.
