Andy Walker baffled by controversial John Beaton decision in first half of Rangers clash v St Mirren
Andy Walker was baffled by John Beaton’s officiating when he failed to punish Joe Aribo for a “clear foul” on Alex Gogic in the first half of Rangers’ clash at St Mirren on Sunday.
Gogic, 27, was pulled back by Aribo, 25, as the St Mirren player made a forward pass but the officials instead stopped play for an offside.
However, Sky Sports pundit Walker wanted play pulled back for Aribo’s foul on Gogic.

“I’m surprised that the referee John Beaton hasn’t blown up for a foul,” said Walker on Sky Sports Football [10 April, 12:14pm].
As a replay of the incident was shown, ex-Celtic player Walker added: “Gogic [was] driving earlier.
“There’s a clear foul and he plays it past.
“Yes, his teammate’s in an offside position but that’s a clear foul. Surely you bring that back because it’s only a second or two.”

Scrappy
We’ve got to be honest, Aribo should have done better than pulling back Gogic and he’s lucky that Beaton didn’t seem it as a foul.
We agree with Walker, here.
However, for the rest of the half, Beaton seemed to officiate well and Rangers look as though they should be on their way to three points.
That should be the case, though.
Giovanni van Bronckhorst named a strong team, which is a bit odd considering that Thursday night is the priority for the Light Blues right now.
Our chances of retaining the Scottish Premiership title are dwindling after losing to Celtic last week and them following it up with a 7-0 hammering of St Johnstone.
Is it best that we put all our eggs in one basket now and try to get into the semi-finals of the Europa League and win the Scottish Cup?
If we do that, our season cannot be considered a massive failure.
But if we lose to Braga, fail to win the Scottish Cup and finish second in the Premiership, that definitely would be.
