Dave King backed Rangers into a corner by offering them £3million to call off the friendly against Celtic in Australia.

That’s according to Dr Dan Plumley who claims that the fans could see through his intentions of winning some brownie points.

Pulling out from the tournament certainly cost Gers a lot of money as well as the chance to advertise their brand globally.

Per the Daily Record, the former chairman pledged the board that he will cover all losses incurred by the club for this decision.

Discussing this move exclusively with Ibrox News, the Sheffield Hallam University expert said,

“It’s almost win-win for him, isn’t it?

“He can cover the money which is great for him on a personal level and that’s fantastic.

“It makes him look like a saviour because the fans are really against it.

“He backs the club into a corner and most fans will be able to see that.

“The league aren’t growing the commercial and broadcasting revenue so Rangers and Celtic are looking at it like we should do this ourselves.

“There’s a wider global strategy here and I understand that it’s not front and centre of fanbases.

£3million is one thing and the global exposure it gets you is another.”

The Ibrox faithful voiced their displeasure at the running of the club by throwing toilet rolls on the pitch during their game against Dundee.

The club have pulled out from the tournament due to the fan fury but it has still not gone down well with the fans.

In other Rangers news, the club have terminated a major deal citing a breach of contract which also comprises of significant branding issues.
