Kris Boyd says Rangers still can win the quarter-final tie v Braga

Kris Boyd is confident that Rangers can win the second leg and the quarter-final tie against Braga.

The Gers lost 1-0 against the Portuguese outfit in the first leg away from home where the performance hasn’t been up to the mark.

Boyd has noticed that the performance had improved in the second half when James Tavernier played further up the pitch.

“Tonight wasn’t their best performance but the tie is still alive. I still fancy their chances to overturn the deficit when they get Braga back to Ibrox next week,” said Boyd on Sky Sports (as relayed by The Daily Record).

“Rangers are going to have to find solutions to overcome teams. I felt as if when Giovanni van Bronckhorst made the substitutions just after the hour there was a difference to Rangers play.

“They were able to get James Tavernier further up the pitch and he is crucial to what Rangers want to do, how they want to play and create opportunities.

“The final ball was just lacking tonight, but Rangers will fancy their chances of overturning this.”

Belief

It’s all about belief and confidence.

Rangers have defeated the likes of Borrusia Dortmund and Red Star Belgrade already this season, and there is no reason to believe why they can’t win it at Ibrox.

At the same time, the confidence in the team has taken a big blow following the 2-1 defeat against Celtic which has almost ended their title hopes.

Rangers need to start fresh and forget about Alfredo Morelos for a while. His absence is a massive loss for the club, and it’s hard to replenish his void. But the Gers have to come up with a plan to counter it.

In the second leg, Rangers need to score early to get the confidence back in the side. They need to start strongly and put the pressure on Braga straightaway.

Skipper Tavernier has been outstanding this season and he has to play a big role in the return leg.

Rangers need to focus on their league clash on Sunday and get a big result to boost their confidence ahead of the return leg next Thursday.

In other Rangers news, the Gers are readying a summer bid to sign this left-footed ace who supports a rival club.
