Chris Sutton shares instant reaction to Rangers loss v Braga, baffled by Aaron Ramsey absence

Chris Sutton was left baffled by the absence of Aaron Ramsey in Rangers 1-0 defeat against Braga this evening.

The Welshman was left on the bench in Portugal as the Bears started with defeat in the Europa League quarter-finals.

Sutton admitted it wasn’t the worst result, though, but admitted the final third issues reared their ugly head once again.

Rangers

Writing on his personal Twitter account straight after the final whistle, Sutton was left baffled by one big call.

“Not the worst result for Rangers but they didn’t do enough in the final third,” he wrote.

“Aaron Ramsey left on the bench. Surely these are the games he was signed by Rangers for?”

Strange.

With Alfredo Morelos missing, it was a big surprise to see how Giovanni van Bronckhorst decided to set up.

It looked defensive, but the Bears didn’t play that way despite the names on paper, with Joe Aribo and Kemar Roofe also on the bench.

Ramsey showed that he could burst into the final third and score against Celtic over the weekend, but he wasn’t thrown into the action this time around.

Next week will be huge, and we will no doubt see the likes of Ramsey start, there is no doubt about that.

As Sutton says, he arrived for these huge nights, and it is time for him to prove he can step up yet again as he did against Celtic.

Make it happen, Gio.
