Rangers want to make Aaron Ramsey marquee summer signing

Rangers want to make Aaron Ramsey’s loan move at Ibrox into a permanent one to send out a statement in the summer transfer market, according to TEAMtalk.

The 31-year-old scored his first home goal for the Light Blues during the 2-1 Old Firme defeat to Celtic on Sunday and looked like the player the club were hoping for when they made the late January move.

Ramsey struggled with injuries at the beginning of his time in Glasgow but he has overcome those struggles to become an instrumental part of Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s team.

TEAMtalk now reports that the Welsh international might be staying at Ibrox beyond the end of this season with Rangers hoping to strike a deal with Juventus to make the move permanent.

The Old Lady have already stated that they would be willing to allow him to leave on the cheap with his astronomical £400,000 per-week wages the main problem in ending their contract together.

Don’t blow the budget

Ramsey has been getting better and better with every single game he’s played and he is now almost certain to start in van Bronckhorst’s best XI.

But if his move to Scotland is to be made permanent, Rangers will surely have to pay a lot more than they currently are in the loan agreement with the Turin side.

If the 31-year-old asks for a ridiculous amount of money from the reigning Scottish champions, then it could really upset the balance within the club right now that has served them so well in their trophy-winning mission.

The club absolutely should not blow the majority of their wage budget just to keep Ramsey at the club for next season and beyond no matter how good he performs for the rest of this campaign.

If he is willing to be reasonable when negotiations commence then he is definitely someone who needs to stick around the place and help the club gain a stronghold on the domestic game while also upsetting the applecart on the continent too.
