BBC pundit: Rangers will want to sell Ryan Kent and Alfredo Morelos in summer

Richard Foster has said on PLZ Soccer that Rangers will look to sell Alfredo Morelos and Ryan Kent in the summer.

The popular pundit feels that this is the “pivotal” time to sell the two players, as Giovanni van Bronckhorst will love to stamp his own authority on the side by bringing his choice of players.

A massive rebuilding is needed in the summer. Van Bronckhorst may need get rid of some of the senior players as well whose contracts are expiring at the end of the season.

“It will be a pivotal time. I think he (Gio van Bronckhorst) will have his own players in mind that he wants to bring in,” said the BBC pundit on PLZ Soccer.

“I think they will want to sell a Morelos or a Ryan Kent. I think the timing is right. They have both had relatively good seasons.

“It’s not as if Rangers are flush with cash, every month we hear how much Rangers are losing month on month.

“They will need to sell some of their big players or their board are going to have to dig into their pockets again and help them out with money.

“Players like Kent and Morelos, if they don’t move now they are probably not going to get the move that they want.”

Massive rebuilding

Van Bronckhorst will look to bring his own type of players in the summer transfer window.

Both Morelos and Kent are bankable assets and the club should look to sell them now for a profit and re-invest into the squad.

Morelos will enter the final year of his contract next season and it will be high time to cash in on him. He has scored 19 goals this season before he got injured, and Rangers can demand a high transfer fee for him.

Likewise, Kent has been superb for the Gers in the past couple of seasons, and he has no shortage of admirers in the Premier League.

Rangers spent huge money on him but they should be aiming to get at least double the amount from his sale.

Van Bronckhorst will have to make a big decision on the futures of Allan McGregor and Steven Davis as well. Connor Goldson will become a free agent in the summer, and he is certain to leave Ibrox.

In other Rangers news, Morelos’ absence could see a return to the squad for this outcast who hasn’t played in two months.
