BBC pundit destroys Rangers players, shares biggest problem this season

Cammy Bell has destroyed the Rangers players, claiming they haven’t “hit the same highs” as last season’s league winning campaign.

The former Gers man took aim at the recruitment team with none of their January signings making a notable impact – so far – at Ibrox.

Speaking to GO Radio via footballscotland: “Looking back at the January transfers, the loan players coming in haven’t worked.

“Sands finds himself on the bench, it hasn’t worked out for Diallo.

“Even Ramsey, it’s taken him until Sunday to start a big game for them and he couldn’t last the whole game

“The transfers haven’t worked, but also what I would say is, from last season to this season, I don’t think the players who are there have hit the same highs.

“That’s a big part of it. You look at recruitment, but also the players they’ve maintained and kept, they haven’t done what they did last season.

“They haven’t performed to that same level and that’s where it’s hurt them.”

Spot on.

Unfortunately, he is right. The January transfer window gave the Bears fans a sense of belief halfway through the season.

Rangers

They were still fighting on all fronts and seemingly having everything they needed and more to take the challenge to Celtic and whoever they faced in the Europa League.

The fact of the matter is that the signings have been nowhere near good enough. James Sands can be afforded somewhat of an excuse, he is a youngster and next season is when you would expect him to burst fully onto the scene but the rest have been awful.

For all of his experience and hype, Aaron Ramsey has been underwhelming at best. Manchester United winger Amad Diallo looked set to set Scotland on fire having scored just a few minutes into his Light Blues debut, but he is another who hasn’t fit the bill.

They do still have time to turn things around in the cups and they desperately need to otherwise this season could be a disaster.
