Michael Owen predicts result of Sporting Braga v Rangers

Michael Owen is worried about the “morale” of the Rangers side ahead of their Europa League clash versus Braga on Thursday.

Rangers are heading into this game on the back of a demoralising 2-1 defeat against arch-rivals Celtic which has almost ended their title hopes this season.

The Gers have been brilliant away from home in this competition, having beaten Borussia Dortmund already.

It will be a tough game in Portugal, and Owen told Bet Victor that Rangers are likely to suffer a 2-1 defeat.

“This is a huge game for Rangers’ season. After a disappointing defeat against Celtic at the weekend, the pressure is really on them,” said Owen.

“They’ve done well on their travels, but I worry about the morale now. Braga are a decent side and beat Benfica at the weekend. I think they’ll edge this 2-1.”

Blow

The Gers have suffered a massive blow ahead of the match after the club has confirmed (official website) today that Alfredo Morelos is set to miss the rest of the season.

The Colombian picked up a thigh injury whilst on international duty and he has undergone surgery that will keep him out till summer.

Morelos is the top scorer at the club with 19 goals and he has been outstanding in European games so far. Losing him at the vital stage of the season is a massive blow.

Having said that, Giovanni van Bronckhorst can’t let the disappointment engulf the team ahead of the game.

He must come up with a strong plan B option, and Kemar Roofe is likely to play a big part from here on.

If the Gers can manage a draw, it would be a fantastic result. Without Morelos, the task won’t be easy.

In other Rangers news, we believe Giovanni van Bronckhorst will make two changes for the Europa League game against Braga on Thursday.
