Kemar Roofe likely to start in Braga v Rangers after Morelos injury

Kemar Roofer is likely to start for Rangers against Braga on Thursday, according to The Athletic.

The Bears have suffered a crushing blow after it was confirmed that striker Alfredo Morelos has been ruled out for the rest of the season.

The Colombian striker picked up a thigh injury during the international break and underwent surgery.

Colombia missed out on World Cup qualification after finishing sixth in their group, but the damage suffered by Rangers, as consequence, is massive.

Roofe to the rescue?

Morelos missed the 2-1 defeat against Celtic on Sunday, and his absence was felt during the game.

In the absence of the Colombian, Giovanni van Bronckhorst will have to rely on Roofe to deliver in such a huge game against Braga (and the rest of the season) in the Europa League.

Morelos has scored 19 goals in 42 appearances across all competitions this season, and it will be a big ask to fill his void.

Kemar Roofe will be one of plenty to depart Ibrox this summer

It’s time for Roofe to take centre stage. He is a versatile forward who can fit in a number of roles.

Roofe has played as a second-fiddle to Morelos, and yet he has scored 12 goals this season for the Gers.

He was hailed as “fantastic” by Marvin Bartley on BBC Sportscene after his performance against St Mirren last year, and he has always delivered when the club needed him.

Roofe has been used on the wings, and has mostly played in the no 10 role, but he is also capable of leading the line, and he must do so for the club till the end of the season.
