Rangers in hunt for Dundee talent Luke Graham, Arsenal and Celtic also interested

Rangers are interested in 18-year-old Dundee defender Luke Graham after they sent scouts to watch him at the weekend according to The Courier.

The centre-back prospect is attracting widespread interest, as representatives from Arsenal and Celtic were also reportedly in attendance for the match between Lochee United, where he was on loan, and Letham at Severn Acres Park.

The Courier also reports that the young talent has just travelled to spend a week on trial at Sheffield United.

The report says: “Graham has only recently turned 18 and is yet to make any impact on the first-team at Dens Park.

“However, his stature and ability on the ball have attracted the interest of academy scouts from down south.”

“Meaning Dundee may have a fight on their hands to keep hold of one of their bright young talents before he even reaches first-team level.”

Upheaval

There is set to be a significant amount of change at the centre-back position for Gers this summer.

Current starters Connor Goldson and Leon Balogun are both currently out of contract, although the Englishman is reported by The Scotsman to be in talks over a new deal.

John Souttar will be arriving from Hearts on a free transfer, and Filip Helander is still at the club, despite featuring sparingly of late.

He only has a further year left on his own deal and recently told Fotbollskanalen that there have been no discussions on an extension.

If Graham is as highly rated as he appears he could be part of the future at Ibrox.

There will surely be some overhaul to the playing staff if the title returns to Celtic following yesterday’s (3 April) Old Firm derby defeat.

A shakiness at the back has seen dropped points on too many occasions in the SPFL since the turn of the year, so perhaps the move to consider the Dundee youngster is in response.

It looks like the club will have to move fast if they want him, with interest clearly high.
