Barry Ferguson explodes over Rangers glass bottle incident v Celtic
Barry Ferguson was left furious after Rangers clash with Celtic was spoiled as some fans threw glass bottles on the pitch.
After the break, as the players returned to the field, referee Willie Collum was made aware of the shattered glass bottles around one penalty area.
The Gers lost 2-1 to give Celtic a six-point lead at the top. The game was delayed by around five minutes as groundsmen cleared up the glass, and Ferguson has described it as “madness.”

Ferguson wrote in his column for The Daily Record: “The game itself was a good spectacle and advert for Scottish football, especially in the first half but once again the mindless minority shamed themselves.
“Nobody wants to see bottles or coins thrown, it’s horrible to see and there is always that few who let the side down.
“It’s madness, having broken glass inside Joe Hart’s penalty box was crazy, anyone could have slipped on it and suffered a serious injury so it left a sour taste watching that happen.”
Disgrace
It’s a disgraceful act from the minority fans and the culprits of this mindless act should be found and punished by the police.
If possible, those fans should be banned for life for their idiotic behaviour.
Rangers fans have vented their frustrations against the board during the clash against Dundee where they threw toilet rolls and tennis balls on the pitch.

However, the board has since made a u-turn and decided to cancel the Sydney trip.
Questions should be asked about how did a glass bottle get into the ground as security should have checked sufficiently before they made their way to the stadium.
Ferguson is spot on here. It could have seriously injured any player on the pitch, and its consequence would have been dire.
Luckily Joe Hart spotted it and actions were taken swiftly. It could have hurt any Rangers player or a group of players if the glass wasn’t spotted.
