Tony Cascarino says Rangers will want ‘revenge’ and fans will ‘demand it’ in Old Firm derby

Rangers will be out for ‘revenge’ against Celtic this weekend and fans will ‘demand it’, according to talkSPORT pundit Tony Cascarino.

The two Glasgow giants will face off in a top of the table clash on Sunday, with Rangers keen to avenge the 3-0 thumping at Parkhead back in February.

Cascarino, who played in two Old Firm derbies for Celtic, told talkSPORT’s Breakfast show [April 2, 7:19] that the Ibrox players will be ‘humiliated’ after what happened in the last game and will want to put it right.

“Well the game at Parkhead Celtic battered them,” he said. “They just went after Rangers, I saw that game and they just went after them from the very first second and it was a humdinger of a game.

“What is it going to be? You know that revenge is there for Rangers to do to Celtic. The fans are going to demand it, the players are going to be wanting revenge too because they were humiliated weren’t they.”

More than three points

This game is about more than just three points and the Scottish Premiership title race, it’s about pride and rivalry too so Cascarino is correct.

Revenge will absolutely be on the menu tomorrow for the players and fans, and there will be 52,000 Blues baying for the blood of the Celtic squad with a big win needed.

However the team must ensure that they aren’t too focused on revenge and have their minds set on earning the victory because for them it must be looked at as just another game.

The fans will carry the rivalry and provide the extra boost for what a special game this is, but they must remain focused on their jobs and that is winning the game.

Any sort of win will be revenge, but the sweetest revenge will be overtaking them in the table and winning the title for a second consecutive season.
