Barry Ferguson: Rangers will have ‘huge’ opportunity to go to Australia, Middle East and America again
Barry Ferguson has insisted that Rangers will always have the chance to visit Australia, Asia or America in the future.
This comes after the Bears dropped out of the Sydney Cup this week, much to the disappointment of many outside of Ibrox.
Ferguson admitted that the fan base on that side of the globe is “huge” but that having an unhealthy relationship between fan and board wasn’t right.

Speaking on Friday [01 April], as related by the Daily Record, Ferguson made a big prediction for the future.
“It’s not healthy when there is bickering going on, and people are not happy,” he said. “I’m just glad they can focus on what is happening on the football pitch.
“The last thing you want is board bickering with fans, (and) releasing statements.
“I think there are opportunities for Rangers and Celtic to go to Australia, America, and the Middle East because the fan bases over there are huge.”
Huge.
Of course, this would be a huge step in the right direction.
But, it has to be done right and certainly not how it was planned this time around, it was simply tone-deaf and the board know that now.
The biggest clubs in the English Premier League travel to the USA, America and Middle East each summer, and doing the same can open up huge commercial possibilities.
Rangers taking on the likes of Liverpool and Manchester United would be incredible, and with the number of fans on that side of the globe, the attendances would be out of this world.
Those are the types of deals that the Ibrox board should be looking to cement, with some of the biggest games right there begging to be made.
Playing the likes of Real Madrid and Arsenal last summer only reignited the fire against the world’s best, and now it is time to make that a regular pattern.
