Chris Sutton reacts to ‘huge’ Alfredo Morelos update ahead of Rangers clash v Celtic in Old Firm
Chris Sutton feels Alfredo Morelos is a “huge doubt” for Rangers when they play Celtic at Ibrox on Sunday.
The Scottish Sun reported on 31 March that Morelos, 25, has jetted out of Scotland to see a specialist in London about a thigh injury.
The Colombia striker was spotted on crutches at Glasgow Airport and it is understood that he’s could miss the Celtic match plus both Europa League ties against Braga.
Ex-Celtic striker Sutton suggests that Morelos would have enjoyed playing in the Old Firm if he was fit and seems to think that Kemar Roofe will replace the Colombian.
“Alfredo Morelos is looking like a huge doubt for the game but he’ll like that if he makes it,” said Sutton in the print edition of the Daily Record on 1 April [page 62].
“The 25-year-old likes markers to get close so he can use his strength to and roll them.
“Whether the Colombian beats the odds to make it or if it’s fellow striker Kemar Roofe starting, either one is going to have to keep a cool head.”

Massive blow
Morelos is hardly ever injured.
According to transfermarkt, the ex-HJK Helsinki striker has missed just four matches through injury in his entire spell at Ibrox.
He’s had games when he’s been rested or rotated out of the side for someone else to get a chance up front while he’s also suffered the axe for a loss of form.
But Morelos is usually always there, he’s usually always ready and he usually always get himself on the scoresheet and makes a big impact in matches.

Unfortunately, it looks as though Giovanni van Bronckhorst will be without his star man on Sunday when Ange Postecoglou and his men make their way across Glasgow to visit Ibrox.
It’s a massive shame and as a result, the Rangers team is weakened.
Not only are Morelos’ goals important but the Colombian’s link-up play in the attack is irreplaceable.
Roofe is good at it – but Morelos is excellent and easily one of the best in British football at it.
Celtic defenders will be relieved but we can still hurt them and we can still win this game without Morelos.
One player doesn’t make a team.
