Times journalist shares when and where post-split Celtic v Rangers showdown will be played

Rangers still have three matches left to play against Old Firm rivals Celtic this season with the next taking place at Ibrox this Sunday.

After that, the two rivals meet in the Scottish Cup semi-finals at Hampden Park on 17 April before they clash again after the split in the Scottish Premiership.

According to Times journalist Michael Grant, the final Old Firm derby of the campaign is likely to take place on Sunday, 1 May at Celtic Park.

Huge games

If Rangers can win on Sunday in the first of the remaining three Old Firm clashes, the final two are going to be absolutely massive.

There’s every chance that we’ll go to Parkhead on 1 May level on points with Celtic at the top of the Scottish Premiership table.

It could effectively be a cup final for the league title.

As it stands, we’re three points behind Ange Postecoglou’s side, who also have a far superior goal difference.

It’s effectively a four-point gap but a win this weekend and then a win at Parkhead after the split will surely seal the title for the Light Blues.

In between that, there’s a massive Scottish Cup semi-final.

Rangers need to start winning cups more regularly in order to prove they’re back to their best because our performances in the Scottish Cup and League Cup have been embarrassing for years now.

While European displays have stolen the headlines, we’re always very unlikely to win silverware in that manner.
