Rangers terminate Sydney tournament deal due to breach of contract
Rangers cancelled their friendly against Celtic in November after citing a breach of contract, according to The Athletic.
The breach included a failure to recognise Old Firm as a brand in all the branding for the tournament set to be held in Australia.
A-League sides Sydney FC and Sydney Wanderers were also going to be a part of that competition.

A Rangers statement said: “Rangers can confirm the Club will not be participating in the Sydney Super Cup in November 2022.
“After it became clear the tournament organisers were unwilling to fulfil their commitments to Rangers, we have, with immediate effect, terminated the Club’s agreement with the organisers.”
Good move
This tournament would’ve no doubt raked in good money for the Ibrox outfit.
Given their quest to become self-sufficient, it was viewed as a good move, but it was always going to be a hard one to sell to the supporters.
This tournament was more of a way to appease the Celtic manager and have a tour in his honour.

There was no way that the Ibrox faithful was going to sign up for something like that and have the first overseas Old Firm in Australia.
Fans made their point clear and even started protesting two minutes into the game on March 20.
They started to throw things on the pitch, making their opinions heard loud and clear.
The club will continue looking for other tournament opportunities during the World Cup but those should ease tensions with the fans.
In other Rangers news, the club may sign a Dutch international to replace Allan McGregor and the keeper’s contract also expires in the summer.
