Wales coach Rob Page shares if Ramsey fit enough for Rangers v Celtic

Wales coach Rob Page has confirmed that Rangers midfielder Aaron Ramsey will be fit for the Old Firm clash on April 2.

The Welshman was a major doubt for the game when Page himself stated that he wasn’t feeling up to it after their recent international tie.

However, he believes that the Gers loanee will be ready to take on rivals Celtic in a must win Old Firm derby.

Should he start?

Unlike what many expected, Ramsey has not been the first name on the team sheet for Giovanni van Bronckhorst.

Since arriving, the Wales international has battled fitness and some injuries and has seldom been fit enough to last the 90 minutes.

Against Celtic, GvB may not want to tinker with what he deems as his most functional playing eleven.

He trusts certain players to get the job done and unfortunately does not rely on Ramsey still to perform up to that level from the kick-off.

Rangers

Most games where the Welshman has been influential have seen him coming off the bench to wreak havoc.

His experience of playing in bigger games comes in handy then and that’s probably what the Dutchman will be considering.

Whether or not he will start, still remains to be seen, but knowing GvB and his team selections, we do not see that happening.

However, we do predict him to play some part in the game and could even be brought on earlier if Rangers are chasing the game.

In other Rangers news, the club may sign a Dutch international to replace Allan McGregor and the keeper’s contract also expires in the summer.
