Nathan Blake thrilled by influence on Rangers star Aaron Ramsey on Wales squad for BBC

Nathan Blake has picked out Rangers star Aaron Ramsey for the effect he has had on the Wales squad in recent years.

The BBC pundit singled out the Bears’ midfielder alongside the likes of Gareth Bale for their roles in the up-turn of the red dragon, urging them to stay on.

Like Bale, recent years have seen Ramsey only perform on the international stage, something that looks to be changing at Ibrox.

Speaking on the BBC on Tuesday evening [29 March, 21:06], Blake singled out a handful of players for their roles.

“I love that team spirit and togetherness that’s been there since 2012,” he said. “It just shines through every time.

“The longer the players like Hennessey, Bale, Ramsey and Allen stay on, it’s what the youngsters become accustomed to and keep the tradition going.”

Golden era.

Ever since Wales got to the semi-finals of that European Championship, it has been somewhat of a golden era for the Welsh.

Bale may have played a huge role in that, but surely, Ramsey has played the same, if not bigger impact at times with the injuries to the former.

The Rangers man has also had his injury problems, and maybe both could wish that they have been available more throughout the years.

This success in getting one game away from the World Cup this year will only push Ramsey along to keep his performance levels high at club level.

Which better way to show that than against Celtic on Sunday afternoon, picking up the win and really kickstarting this title race.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst will be desperate to see the best of Ramsey now after two starts and over 150 minutes of action in the past week for club and country.
