Gheorghe provides fitness update on Rangers forward Ianis Hagi
Rangers attacking midfielder Ianis Hagi is fighting his way to fitness, and it has impressed his father, Gheorghe.
The 23-year-old suffered a devasting knee injury and he has been ruled out for the rest of the season.
He ruptured his cruciate ligament in Gers’ Scottish Cup win against Stirling back in January and faces a spell out for as long as nine months.

However, Hagi senior is impressed with the mental resolve his son is showing and has suggested that he is “recovering” every day.
“Ianis is fine, he looks good mentally, he is recovering every day,” said Gheorghe Hagi as quoted by the Daily Record.
“He has accepted everything and now he works hard every day to progress. I saw him in Glasgow looking very well, I hope he recovers as soon as possible.
“He had an injury, it was a serious one, but he is strong and he accepted it. He is working to get back to the way he was before, which was an ideal period for him.”
Good to hear
It was initially expected that the Romanian would be out till the end of the season, but as it stands, he may not be seen back in action until after next season is underway.
This is a major setback for the youngster, who will need to prove himself again after he returns to full fitness.
Usually, it takes a lot of time to heal cruciate ligament injury, and there have been instances where a player has become prone to further injuries after going under the knife.

However, Hagi looks to be a strong character and he is working hard to get himself ready.
Even if he resumes normal training in a few months’ time, Giovanni van Bronckhorst must not look to rush him into the side.
Hagi has a contract at the club till 2024 and the club should go easy on his rehabilitation.
In other Rangers news, this Gers trio were knocked out of the World Cup yesterday but that works fine for van Bronckhorst.
