Rory Wilson mooted to stay at Rangers despite reports to the contrary

Rangers starlet Rory Wilson could be set for an extended stay at Ibrox, according to Tuesday morning’s Scottish Daily Express update.

The report claims that Giovanni van Bronckhorst and Ross Wilson have been encouraged by this development.

Among all the clubs chasing the centre-forward, none have agreed on a fee with Gers even though it is expected to be a modest compensation amount.

Good news?

Wilson seemed primed to join Steven Gerrard at Aston Villa with a deal relatively agreed upon.

However, this development means that there is still hope for Gers to keep old of their attacking sensation.

Wilson has been tearing it up in the junior leagues so it makes sense to retain his services.

While he cannot yet sign a pro deal at the club, surely Rangers would be willing to wait until he turns 17.

They’re not a club that can spend top dollar on signing world class players so have to rely on their academy and youth setup.

In the 16-year-old, they have a player who could one day become one of the best strikers in the United Kingdom.

At his age, he’s already leaps and bounds ahead of a majority of players and will only get better once he’s introduced to the first team and begins training with the senior pros.

GvB must have a word with him and make promises that he would be promoted in a year or two so as to encourage him to stay.

In other Rangers news, the club may sign a Dutch international to replace Allan McGregor and the keeper’s contract also expires in the summer.
